George Washington Must be Rooting Hard for U.S. to Win 2026 World Cup
The 2026 World Cup kicks off this weekend in cities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico millions will be rooting for their home country. In the U.S., George Washington may be the most passionate fan of the U.S. men’s team ever as a win by the host country could win him a 2026 Jeep Wrangler.
By the way, it’s not just one George Washington that stands to benefit, but 100 people named after one of this country’s founding fathers have a chance to win a Wrangler.
“In celebration of the soccer showdown, the Jeep brand is making a bold, unmistakably American promise: if the U.S. team finishes on top of the world this summer, the first 100 eligible living Americans legally named George Washington who register will have the chance to drive home in a new Jeep Wrangler,” Jeep officials said.
So if you want a new Jeep and you’re a George Washington, here’s what you do:
- Any U.S. resident legally named George Washington can register at wranglerforwashingtons.com
- Registration is open now through the final match of the tournament
- The first 100 verified registrants will be eligible
- If the U.S. wins it all, those selected will each receive a new Jeep Wrangler
Comedian Iliza Shlesinger is once again teaming up with Jeep to talk about the deal. In a new commercial, she sheds her Chief Family Officer role for Chief Soccer Officer in the “ All in on America” campaign. It’s a 60-second spot on television and the Jeep brand’s social media channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok.
In the spot, Shlesinger sits behind a desk beneath a portrait of George Washington riding in a Jeep Wrangler as she delivers a rallying cry to America.
“If America wins it all and a bunch of George Washingtons end up driving around in brand-new Jeep Wranglers, that’s the kind of chaotic patriotism I want to be part of,” said Shlesinger. “The Jeep brand has always represented freedom, adventure and a little bit of rebellion, so giving George Washingtons across America the chance to get a Jeep Wrangler felt perfectly unhinged in the best possible way.”
Unfortunately, the U.S. men’s team is not considered a favorite to win the cup and has never made past the semifinal — which happened in 1930, the first year of the tournament. In modern times, the men’s team’s best finish is the quarterfinals in 2002. The Women’s national team has fared much better, with four wins and a second place.
