Question of the Day: Should Nissan Bring the Leaf Nismo to the U.S.?

Nissan revealed today it plans offer the Leaf Nismo — in Japan only. The Leaf is the OG of mainstream electric vehicles. And as Nissan looks to revitalize its lineup to bring it back from the brink, it’s been expanding the number of vehicles that get the Nismo performance treatment.

The Leaf, which was completely redone for 2025, is just the latest to enjoy the makeover. Although Nissan officials did share the new Nismo version was coming to Japan, it didn’t offer any performance or range metrics. The current Leaf can travel up to 303 miles on a full charge. Pricing for the Japanese-only offering ranges from $40,450 to $42,300. 

With EV sales slowing down — accounting for 5.4 percent of all new vehicle sales — should Nissan bring the Leaf Nismo to the U.S.?
